The origin of Talbot lays in the British
company Clement Talbot Ltd, which imported French automobiles to
England from 1903 onwards and later started to produce cars on their
own.
In 1919 the company Darracq took over the British small scale enterprise
and used the brand name Talbot-Darracq for its own vehicles. For race
cars from both production plants the brand name was kept until 1930. The
brand name of the British passenger car continued to be Talbot. Between
1920 and 1927 the cars were produced with various engines, ranging from
four cylinder engines between 1.6 and 2.1 liters and from 1927 onwards
three additional engine variations with six cylinders and a cubic
capacity between 2.8 and 3 liters were added to the portfolio.
